St. Aidan's, Aberfoyle
Park

On the 1st July 1984 services
began to be held in private homes. The area was part of the O'Halloran
Hill Parish and by September of that year Fr. Gene Bennett had
been appointed as Associate Priest of O'Halloran Hill with special
responsibility for Aberfoyle Park and Happy Valley. On the 11th
November services were held in the local High School and a house
in Sunnymeade Drive had been purchased as a Rectory. In 1986 a
new rectory was purchased in Outlook Drive and weekday services
were held there and the Chapel was dedicated to St. Aidan. On
the 13th August 1988 the new Church Centre and Rectory were dedicated
by Bishop Porter and services commenced in the new Centre. The
new Parish was finally created in April 1994 and it has been a
separate Parish from O Halloran Hill since that time. Services
are held each Sunday at 9.30 am and during the week on Tuesday
nights and Wednesday mornings. Services are also conducted at
a number of the local aged care facilities.
